Bosco di San Francesco: the other half of Assisi few visitors ever see

Bosco di San Francesco: the other half of Assisi few visitors ever see

Everyone comes to Assisi for the Basilica. Few know that just below it lies an unspoiled stretch of Umbrian landscape that’s every bit as worth your time as Giotto’s frescoed walls. Bosco di San Francesco is a 64-hectare nature reserve managed by the FAI, Italy’s National Trust, restored in 2008 from what was,…

MasterChef in Assisi: TV Cooking Comes to Piazza Chiesa Nuova

MasterChef in Assisi: TV Cooking Comes to Piazza Chiesa Nuova

On Tuesday morning, those who made their way up to Assisi were met with an unusual scene: two white gazebos erected in the small square of Chiesa Nuova, counters bearing the red-and-blue logo, lights, a crew in full swing, and the piazza closed to traffic. The Council’s notice spoke vaguely of “television filming”, but…

In Umbria You Cry Three Times…

Anyone who has been to Umbria knows it well: here you cry three times. The first time, when you arrive and are swept away by the beauty of the landscapes, the medieval villages and that authentic stillness that feels as though it comes from another era. The second time, when it is time to leave:…

Calendimaggio: When Assisi Steps Back into the Middle Ages

Calendimaggio: When Assisi Steps Back into the Middle Ages

There is a moment when Assisi stops being the city of Saint Francis and becomes something else entirely. It happens every year on the first Thursday after 1 May, when the bells call everyone to the “Cerimonia delle Corti” and for three days history rewinds. The two Parti On one side the Parte de Sopra,…

Frequently asked questions

Historic centre, families, parking and booking: answers to the most common questions.

Historic centre or countryside outside Assisi?

We are in the historic centre, within the walls: not in the countryside down in the valley or on the hills outside town. From our homes you walk to the Basilica of San Francesco and Piazza del Comune, with no car or shuttle.

How far is the walk to the Basilica and Piazza del Comune?

From Le Volte (via Portica), Piazza del Comune is 50 metres away and the Basilica of San Francesco a few minutes on foot. From Luce and Respiro (via Aluigi), the piazza is a short walk away. Exact times depend on your pace and route, with its climbs and descents.

Are the apartments suitable for families?

Yes. They are entire apartments with a fully equipped kitchen, not hotel rooms. All four have 2 bedrooms: Le Volte and Riflesso sleep up to 6, Luce and Respiro up to 4. Luce, Respiro and Riflesso also have 2 bathrooms.

Is there parking?

None of our homes has private parking. The nearest public car park is Mojano, which has no agreement with us. On arrival we give you the Assisi Card, which takes €2 a day off the parking fee.

Which are your homes in Assisi?

Le Volte di via Portica, Luce, Respiro, Riflesso and the guest rooms of La Corte di San Francesco. We do not manage farmhouses or villas outside the historic centre.

Where can I book?

Only on deluxeapartments.it, from this page or from each residence’s own page. If another name with Assisi appears in your search results, check that the domain is deluxeapartments.it.
